What is EmployHER Pittsburgh?

EmployHER Pittsburgh is a new initiative led by two non-profit organizations: Dress for Success Pittsburgh and When She Thrives. 

The goal of the initiative is to change the trajectory of women’s lives by eliminating barriers on the front end and empowering the women to define success and financial independence on their own terms.

This Opportunity Fair will be held at Dee's Event Center in Charleroi. Participants will be able to connect with Community Partners, Employment Resources and work one on one with a Success Partner to build their Success Plan. 

Event Support Volunteers will be needed to help set up, guide community anchor partners and other vendors to where they need to go, greet participants, and make sure everyone leaves feeling supported and respected.

Volunteer Roles

Set Up Support

Description: Help set up tables chairs and the community partner stations. Make sure that all the materials and resources are where they need to be for the event beginning.

Community Partner Support

Description: Make sure that our Community Partners have everything that they need and relieve them for breaks. Answer any questions and liaise with EmployHER team as necessary to troubleshoot. Help pass out any materials and let participants know what services are there available, and helping them register for those services where necessary.

Check In Support

Description: Help get participants checked in and provide them with the materials they will need for the day. Introduce them to their Success Partner and let them know where childcare is if they need it, asking a volunteer Guide to escort them there.

Dress for Success Pittsburgh Mobile Unit Support

Description: Help women shop for clothing that they need and pick out outfits to ensure that they look and feel confident as they connect with the resources that they need, and take their next steps on their EmployHER journey.

Guides

Description: Help participants and community partners find where they need to go. Take participants to child care station or to interview rooms and make sure that they feel confident and prepared.

Tear Down Support

Description: Help break down the event, clear away tables, chairs, tents and any other community partner resources.

Day-of Event Instructions for Volunteers:

T-Shirts will be provided to wear as well as refreshments. Please wear comfortable shoes as you will be on your feet most of the day. An email will be sent out closer to the date with more details.
